The i3+ Series features two different models- the i3+ and
the i3+ Blade. The i3+ is designed for the player who needs the
forgiveness and consistency that PING Irons have offered since they
popularized perimeter weighting in 1969. The optimum offset of this
model, which progresses from the short irons through the long irons,
squares the face at impact for additional accuracy and optimum trajectory.
The i3+ Blade appeals to players who seek the classic look
and feel of a club with less offset and a smaller head. The reduced
offset offers less bounce for better players to "pick"
at the ball from tight fairways. PING engineers also put slightly
more offset in the shorter irons of the Blade, which helps players
"square up" their shots, while still maintaining a classic
look throughout the set.
Both models feature a lead edge which lowers the face surface
for easier movement through the turf and more consistent ball contact.
The lead edge and bounce translate into improved playability from
a wide range of lies and conditions.
The Custom Tuning Port (CTP) is larger to increase the club's
perimeter weighting and allow for fine tuning the club's swingweight.
The thermoplastic insert enables us to achieve the precise tolerances
required for building custom-fit golf clubs without grinding or
other common club-altering methods which can affect the subtle features
designed and cast into the club. The walls of the port help improve
feel and feedback.
The Notched and Flat-top Hosel has been modified slightly
to improve the irons' playability and feel. A larger notched hosel
provides an easier transition through the grass and allows for precise
loft and lie calibration. The flat-top hosel helps reduce shaft
stress for improved feel.
