Some of the opening holes were built on reclaimed land with water being the primary hazard. The remaining holes of the course wind in and through a forest and of note, the 18th hole is a double dog-leg and it has a three tiered green. Popular and busy, the club allows visitors in the afternoons only unless accompanied by a member. You must book in advance. Like many other courses in the Netherlands, this course was laid on polderland (reclaimed from the sea) and, although very flat, the many water hazards and fast greens can test a players skills. Visitors must book in advance. Colt in 1928. The 5562m parkland course has many older mature trees and water also affects play on several of the holes. Six different tees are used to complete the 18 hole par 70 loop. Visitors are welcome without restrictions. The Club facilities include a bar and restaurant and practice ground. FEES: Dfl35 - 80 EINDHOVENSCHE GOLFCLUB (1930) EINDHOVENSEWEG 300, 5553 VB VALKENSWAARD PHONE: 04902 14816 This 18 hole, Harry Colt designed 5918m long course, par 70, opened for play in 1930 at the instigation of Dr Philips, the brother of the founder of The Philips Electric Company. Club facilities include a bar and restaurant, which are closed on Mondays, and it also has a driving range. Visitors are welcome with no restrictions. FEES: Dfl45 - 90 HAAGSCHE GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB GROOT HAESEBROEKSEWEG 22, 2243 EC WASSENAAR PHONE: 01751 19251 The original club dates back to 1893 but was destroyed by the Germans during World War II. The present 18 hole par 71, 5674m design was re-opened in 1947 and has hosted the Dutch Open on many occasions. The course itself is a links design with plunging fairways and undulating tight greens. Wind may also affect play. At this course you must book in advance. The club offers bar and restaurant facilities and there is also a practice ground. FEES: Dfl50 - 100 GOLFCLUB DE HAAR PARKWEG 5, 3451 RH VLEUTEN PHONE: 03407 2860 The charm of this 9 hole, par 36 course is the 16th century De Haar Castle which dominates the area, and by courtesy of the owner Baron Van Zuylen van Nijevelt, allows the course to run through its grounds. An odd shaped lake runs across several of the holes and an extraordinary variety of trees add to the charm of De Haar. Visitors are welcome. The course is 5859m long and has 18 holes at par 71. Visitors are welcome on weekdays but must book in advance. Weekend play is only permitted for members. The club facilities include a bar, restaurant, and practice ground. KENNEMER GOLF AND COUNTRY CLUB KENNEMERWEG 78, 2040 AB ZANDVOORT PHONE: 02507 12836 The original club opened in 1910 and the traditional links, Harry Colt design was opened for play in 1928, and a third loop of 9 holes designed by Frank Pannink was added. Thus the club has 3 x 9 holes, par 72 at 2951m/2916m/2942m. The 27 holes wind through the sandhills with bush and some small trees lining the fairways. Being a seaside course, the wind does present some challenge. All players must reserve in advance. Tuesday is Ladies Day and Fridays is reserved for visiting societies. The clubhouse facilities include a bar and restaurant. A practice ground is also available. With its roller-coaster type fairways that wind through the sand dunes and the strong winds that come in from the sea, combine to make par 72 a difficult task even though the course is relatively short at 5868m. POLICY: Visitors cannot play between 12 and 3pm weekdays nor after 8am on weekends unless accompanied by a member. Tee times must be booked in advance. UTREECHSE GOLF CLUB DE PAN (1894) AMERSFOORTSEWEG 1, 3735 LJ BOSCH EN DUIN After the Haagsche Club, this is the second oldest golf club in the Netherlands dating back to 1894. The Harry Colt designed course has well maintained fairways that wind their way through 5702m of heavily wooded landscape. There are 18 delightfully laid out holes. Intelligent play from the tee, especially on the back nine, is required inorder to attain 72 par. Must book in advance. ROSENDAELSCHE GOLFCLUB AP[ELDOORNSEWEG 450, 6816 SN ARNHEM PHONE: 085 421438 Founded in 1895, the club is one of the oldest in Holland. It was moved to its present location in the early 1900's and has a mass variety of trees which adds beauty but also causes some difficulties in maintaining 72 par for the 18 holes. The 27 holes are laid out among the trees with many water hazards. The entire complex was designed with the novice golfer in mind. The main course is an 18 hole par 72, 5868m. There is also a 9 hole par 34 at 2687m, an 18 hole par 3 course, and 12 pitch and putt holes. Facilities include a bar and restaurant and practice ground. FEES: Dfl30 NOORDBRABANTSE GOLFCLUB TOXANDRIA (1928) VEENSTRAAT 89, 5124 NC MOLENSCHOT PHONE: 01611 2201 This 18 hole, par 70, 5760m long course was designed by the golf architect Harry Colt in 1928 and opened for play in 1930. The fairways wind their way through ancient trees. Of note, the course was updated by Frank Pennink later on, adding to the challenges that confront each of the various holes.
