The town of Cervia is a vacation resort area that offers
tennis, various water sports, has many good beaches and
since 1987 now offers 18 holes of golf on the 6246m links
style course. Having two large lakes that come into play
on the course, may prevent one from making par 72.
Visitors are welcome. The course is closed on Monday and
also closes between October and March.

Venice, in the Po river delta. Opened in 1972 the course

The club has been host for the Italian Open and welcomes

Built by a wealthy group from Milan, and opened as an
exclusive , private club in 1956, the club retains its
exclusive aura but welcomes visitors except on Sundays,
and visitors must book in advance.
The parkland course is an 18 hole par 72 at 6053m long.
It meanders through the trees that line the fairways and
an occassional stream may come into play.

Known as one of the best courses in Italy, this 18 hole
par 73, at a long and uncomprising 6427m, was built in
the late fifties from a John Morrison design. Fairways
travel through a forest of birch and oak trees; and the
severe water hazards, well situated bunkers, hillocks and 
hollows, will add to the difficulty of the course.
Visitors are welcome, but the course is closed on Mondays.

BOLOGNA GOLF CLUB (1959)

This 18 hole par 72 course was designed by Henry Cotton 
in 1959, with the usual Cotton style challenges. The 5th
is probably the severest and the longest of the dog-leg 
holes. The fairways of the 6171m course wind their way
through avenues of pine, oak and cypress trees and provide 
excellant views of the nearby Apennine mountains.
Visitors are welcome. The course is closed on Mondays.

AT 6500 feet above sea level, this 9 hole course is the
highest in Italy with spectacular views of the Matterhorn 
towering over the Cervino Club. Because of the altitude, 
and thinner air, the golf balls travel further on this par 
34, 2523m long course.

with water hazards and vast undulating greens adds to the

par 72, 6077m course is the main hazard demanding very
accurate shots. The course is laid out on the side of Mnt 
Cuneo and strong winds may, at times, affect the flight of 
your ball. The course does close in January and February,

Gardagolf club is located in the hills of Polpenazze with 
views of the fortress of Manerba and Lake Garda, and offers a 
range of sporting activities. The Donald Steel designed golf
facility has opened an 18 hole par 72, 6505m and a 9 hole
par 35, at 2415m. Both course fairways wind through lines
of olive and cypress trees, with a few ancient oaks to add
and or present an interesting challenge. Course is closed
on Mondays during the winter and welcomes visitors all
other times.

In the northern province of Liguria, west of Genoa and
just north of Alassio, this club offers an 18 hole par 71
5964m course that is laid out in three styles. Designed by 
John Harris in 1965, many of the opening holes lie in the
valley but climbing up through the vinyards and pine trees
to higher ground is required. A dried river bed fronts the
short 13th green. The club is tucked away from the routine
tourist spots but welcomes visitors. The course closes on 
Wednesdays except in July and August.

is located in the northwestern province of Piedmont north
of the city of Turin (Torino). It welcomes visitors but

February.

Opened in 1907, this is the second oldest club in Italy
and sits on the shores of the resort area of Lake Como.
The course was redesigned by John Harris on hilly terrain 
with narrow, undulating fairways. Visitors must book in
advance. The course is closed on Tuesdays and also in the
winter from Decembe to February.

MILANO GOLFCLUB

One of the senior clubs of Italy, the original 9 holes
were opened by the Italian Royal family in 1928. During
the sixties the club re-modeled and an additional loop
was added. The club now offers an 18 hole par 72, 6414m as 
well as the 9 hole, par 36, 2976m parkland courses.
The course is closed in August and visitors must book in
advance.

There are about ten clubs in the Rome area. Olgiata is one
located northwest of the city near La Storta and was opened
in 1961. Designed by C.K. Cotton, it is a parkland course
with 18 holes at 6185m. There is a 9 hole par 34 course
at 2968m, also. Many oak and elm trees add to the splendor
of this prestigious club, which has hosted the Eisenhower
Trophy and the World Cup. The courses are closed on Mondays

This Robert Trent Jones designed 6168m course was opened
in 1972 on the northern end of the island of Sardinia.
Originally commissioned by the Aga Khan, the course was
carved into the rocky coastline at Costa Smeralda.
The 18 hole, par 72 provides many sweeping views of distant
mountains and at times views of the Tyrrhenian Sea.

of Italy. This club however, was opened in 1977 on the
Gulf of Squillace, Ionian Sea, east of Cantanzaro in the

Golf Club Roma is the oldest of the Italian Golf Clubs and
courses. From the wide fairways of this 18 hole par 71
course one can see many of the famous Rome landmarks.
On the back tees, meandering streams create some water
hazards and the greens are relatively fast and sloping.
An Englishman Denys Scott won the first Italian Championship
at this club in 1906. The course is closed on Mondays.

6199m long course. It was built on the sand at the southern 
tip of Lido Island in the Adriatic Sea south west of Venice 
in 1928. It is also a popular club that welcomes visitors,

Villa d'Este is one of the top five golf clubs in Italy and
ranks in the top ten percent in all of Europe. It is near
the Lake Como resort area in Lombardy Province, north of 
Milan, on Lake Montorfano. The 18 hole par 71 parkland course 
is 5787m with fairways that wind through and around dense 
forest of pine, chestnut, and fir trees. This magnificent
layout is always very well maintained and is extremely
popular for a golfing holiday. Golfers must book in advance 
The club facilities include a bar and restaurant and a
practice ground.
