Aachener is an 18 hole par 72, 6063m long course located
in the Westphalia District on the Netherland border, and
north west of the city of Aachen. The fairways at Aachener
run through lines of trees but the main difficulty of the
course is the elevated greens that are well protected by 
bunkers. Visitors are welcome but must book in advance from
April to October.

Near the Austrian border, in the district of Bavaria, south
and east of Munich, the club offers an attractive 18 hole
par 69 parkland course where the main hazards are presented 
by a stream and several lakes. A stylish old castle sits in 
the center of this club. Visitors are welcome.

AUGSBURG  GOLF CLUB

On the outskirts of the renowned medieval city of Augsburg,
this club opened in 1959. The 5833m long course is difficult
because of the lay out which is over hilly ground. The 18
hole, par 71 run has narrow fairways and many water hazards.

BAD KISSINGEN GOLF CLUB (1911)

In the Hesse District, east of Frankfort the club is sited
just south of Kissingen. This relatively short, 5680m par 70
course is great fun because the River Saale runs through it.
It affects play on most of the 18 holes and is a particular
problem on some holes where it runs alongside the fairways.
Visitors are welcome but must book in advance for play on
weekends. Course is closed December to March.

BAD SALZUFLEN GOLF CLUB(1956)

This is an exclusive club with excellent facilities located
in the northeastern section of the North Rhine District, 
south and west of Hannover. The splendid 18 hole, par 72, 
6163m long course has a hill in its center and the holes are 
played over and around it. The short 17th is very difficult 
with a carry of 220m uphill to a double-tier green.
Visitors are welcome but must book in advance. Course is 
closed during January.

BERLIN-WANNSEE GOLF CLUB (1895)

By far one of the oldest golf clubs in Germany, the club is
sited south west of Berlin at Wannesse. It is remarkable the
club survived the depredations of the East-West Cold War but
it is still there. It originally opened in 1895 and offers a 
9 hole, par 35, 2845m long, well-balanced parkland course. 
Visitors are welcome.

DONAU GOLFCLUB RASSBACH (1989)

Passau is located on the Danube River at the Austrian and
Bavaria border. The Donau course is a tough 18 hole, par 72
with 6097m laid out over undulating ground. It has a number 
of dog-leg holes and many water hazards that affect more than 
half of the holes.

DORTMUNDER GOLF CLUB (1956)

In the central part of the Westphalia District, the club is
sited just south of Dortmund and offers a 6174m, 18 hole,
par 72, that is described as being a big and open course.
Ther are very few tree; the main hazards are provided by
water. Visitors are welcome, but must book in advance.

DUSSELDORF-HOSEL GOLF CLUB

This club opened in 1984 and has a long 6169m 18 hole, par 72 
undulating course with some tough driving and dog-leg holes.
There are some mischievious fairway bunkers and several of
the greens are plateau'd.
Visitors are restricted to play by reservation and on the
weekends must be accompanied by a member of the club.

DUSSELDORFER GOLF CLUB

THE COURSE: This Hawtree designed 18 hole par 71, is 5886m
long. It opened in 1961 and has narrow fairways. The greens
are large but well bunkered; the course also has many water
hazards. Visitors are welcome to play Tuesday to Friday.
Course is closed January and February.

North west of Munich at Eschenried, this 18 hole par 72
course opened in 1984. The 6088m course runs through a nature 
reserve with lovely old trees. Many water hazards, very large 
and odd-shaped bunkers and some marshy areas makes this
course both interesting and quite difficult.

Feldafing is one of Germany's oldest golf courses, opened
in 1926. It is nestled peacefully beside Lake Starnberg in
Bavaria, south and west of the state of Munich. Once the
play spot for Bavarian nobility, Feldafing is an 18 hole,
par 71 at 5708m long course with several tricky holes. 
Visitors are welcome on the weekdays. Course is closed
December through March

FRANKFURTER GOLF CLUB

This 18 hole, par 71 5860m long course was designed by Harry
Colt and is rated as one of Germany's best courses. An older
club, 1913, the layout is a stern test that requires use of
every club from the club bag. The fairways run through thick 
forest and the greens, although sizeable are defended by many 
bunkers. Visitors are welcome, but must book in advance.

GARLSTEDTER HEIDE GOLF CLUB (1905)

Located in the Lower Saxony District, just north of Bremen,
this 1905 course was laid out by Bernard von Limburger on 220 
acres of thick forest; known as the Garstedter Heath.
The 18 holes run a long 6435m, thus the 75 par. The pine 
trees simulate the compression of the fairways and with the
many dog-leg holes, and six holes that are over 500 yards,
only 24 bunkers exist on the course. Many professional
golfers have referred to this course as the toughest in
Europe. Visitors are welcome on weekdays but must book in 
advance. Weekend play is by introduction only.

HAMBURG-AHRENSBURG GOLF CLUB(1966)

The course was originally designed by Bernard von Limburger 
but modified by Trent Jones in 1977. It is now an 18 hole par 
70, at 5719m that run through avenues of trees with several 
sharp dog-leg holes. Water also comes into play. Visitors are
welcome on weekdays.

HAMBURG-WALDDORFER GOLF CLUB(1960)

This 18 hole par 73 course is located 20km north east of
Hamburg and is quite a long 6154m. It has narrow fairways cut 
through trees and provides a challenge for the first twelve
holes. The six finishing holes are open and on flat terrain.
Visitors are welcome on weekdays, but must be accompanied by
a member on weekends.

COMMENTS: The clubhouse facilities are excellent.

HAMBURGER GOLF CLUB (FALKENSTEIN)

One of Germany's most distinguished courses, originally
designed  and opened in 1905, it was later modified by
Bernard von Limburger into an 18 hole, par 71, at 5925m.
No two fairways are adjacent and each hole has a distinct 
character as they wind through heather and trees on this 
very long course. The greens are large but difficult.
Visitors are permitted play on the weekends by introduction.

with each hole running isolated through pine trees. The holes 
get narrower and longer as play continues. The Hannover Club
is situated alongside a lake and the area offers a variety
of water sporting facilities. Visitors are welcome.

East of Dusseldorf in Westphalia, this club was the site of 
the 1992 German Open, where Vijay Singh shot a 26 under par. 
The rolling parkland course is an 18 hole, par 72 at 6042m

stretch of woodland, the Konigsforst, with the fairways
running through the trees. There are also some dog-leg holes

Located north west of Frankfurt, the attraction of this 5365m 
long 18 hole par 68 course is its location in the grounds 
which surround a beautiful castle. It is a relatively short 
and hilly course with many dog-leg holes and the castle does
provide an interesting backdrop view from many of the 
fairways. Visitors allowed by introduction only for weekend
play.

is ideal for the holiday golfer. The 6071m long, 18 hole, par 
72 course presents very few difficulties, but provides some

Sited on the Baltic north east of Lubeck, this resort area
offers many kinds of sporting facilities. The Maritim Club
offers two courses, both are 18 holes. The longer 6095m, is
a par 72, and the very short 3755m, is a par 61. The main
course is a challenge having many dog-leg holes and water 
hazards. Visitors are welcome but must book in advance.

In the district of the Rhineland/Palatinate, Bad Ems is in
the  Denzerheide hills, overlooking the Taunus and the Eifel 
rivers, both are branches of the Rhine. The club provides
accomodations and was a very popular holiday area prior to
World War II. The 18 hole, 6050m course has undulating 
fairways with the finishing holes less severe than the front
nine and 72 par is not difficult to attain.

Neustadt is located west of and mid-way between Frankfurt and 
Stuttgart in the southern section of the Rhineland/Palatine 
district. The Pfalz 18 hole par 72, 6090m long course is
rather flat but laid out in heavily wooded terrain. Water 
hazards, some well placed bunkers and many dog-leg holes can
present a challenge to any golfer. Visitors are welcome but 
must book in advance.

The club is located in Bavaria where the Regen and Danube 
rivers join, east of Regensburg. The clubhouse sits in the 
middle of this 18 hole, par 71, 5785m long course. The
course is an interesting challenge provided by many trees,

welcome during the weekdays but must be accompanied by a 
member on weekends.

In Lower Saxony, south of Hamburg, St Dionys club offers
an entertaining 18 hole, par 72, 6225m long heathland
course. St Dionys is laid out over flat ground, has very
little rough, and the fairways are lined with pine and fir
trees.

The Eurach club is located near the Bavarian Alps, north
west of Penzburg at Iffeldorf. The view of the Alps from
the tree lined fairways can be distracting on this 18 hole
par 71. Many water hazards on the 5888m long course makes
St Eurach an entertaining course to play. Visitors are
welcome midweek.

Rental apartment accomodations are available at the centre 
of the club in an 18th century baroque style manor house.
Schloss Ludersburg is located north east of Luneburg, south
and east of Hamburg near the Elbe river. The course is an
18 hole, par 73; with trees lining the fairways. Water 
affects almost every hole, and of note is the 13th, that
has an island green. Visitors are welcome.

Krefeld is located west of the Rhine river, north and west
of Dusseldorf in the Westphalia District. This 9 hole par
34, 2553m course has been laid within the perimeter of a
race track. Although the course is flat, water hazards, and
the hedges and jumps of the race course provide a unique
and interesting challenge. Visitors are welcome after 11am.

Located at the Austrian border south of the Danube river,
the club/resort is located at Bad Griesbach south west of 
Passau. The resort is the training course of the German Golf 
Association and currently has three 18 hole courses and two
9 hole courses with three more 18 hole courses and one more
9 hole under construction. Multiple practice facilities and a 
driving range are available at the resort. The surrounding
areas have many hotels to accomodate visiting golfers.
The resort welcomes visiting golfers but require advanced
booking.

This splendid 18 hole par 72, 6065m long course was opened
in 1927, north west of Stuttgart at Monsheim. The course is 
laid out over gentle hills with a surrounding forest and has 
generous fairways. The thick rough and well positioned 
bunkers could cause golfers some difficulty. Visitors must
book in advance.

Although one of the oldest clubs in Germany (1893), the first 
course was not designed or opened until 1911. The course is
a 9 hole par 34, at 2655m laid out over hilly ground. Many 
fine old trees, a stream, and views of the Taurus mountains
all add to the charm of Wiesbadener.

Located midway between Munich and Nuremberg at the Danube 
River in Bavaria, the club offers an 18 hole par 72, 6065m
course. Clumps of trees are scattered around the relatively 
flat fairways. Although there arenot that many water hazards,
there is an abundance of dog-leg holes which demand accurate
play. The double green that shares the 1st and 15th hole,
is a feature for a German golf course.
